Before Pawfect Witness™
had a name, there were
three animals.
Three different lives. Three experiences that eventually shaped how we understand companionship, loss, responsibility and the bond between people and animals.

A Lifetime Together
Fi Chai was our first dog. He shared seventeen years of our lives, including the day we married.
There were no guests or wedding party. He was the only one there, because we couldn't imagine that moment without him.
He stayed beside us through changing homes, changing seasons and the routines of everyday life. We stayed beside him until the final second of his life.
Losing him was difficult, but the years we had together continue to shape how we live and how we see our responsibility towards animals. Fi Chai could not be replaced. The love he left behind eventually helped us open our home again.

A Second Chance
After surviving a serious accident in China, Fagu spent two and a half years in veterinary care before rescuers helped him reach Vancouver.
His previous owner had requested euthanasia, but the veterinarian chose to treat him. The hospital cared for him after the surgery that left him with three legs.
His journey was made possible by dedicated veterinarians, rescuers and volunteers who refused to give up on him. When we found his photograph, a rescue network was already working to bring him to Canada.
Fagu showed us that grief could become a reason to help another life continue.

The Life No One Noticed
Maji was born in a shelter and spent the first four years of her life waiting for a home.
While many people looked for specific breeds or younger dogs, we asked rescuers to introduce us to the dog who had been overlooked the longest. That dog was Maji.
She was not repeatedly considered and turned away. Almost no one had noticed her at all. When we learned her story, we asked the rescuers to bring her home.
She taught us that sometimes an animal is simply waiting for someone to notice.

For Kit and Kevin, these three relationships became the foundation of Pawfect Witness™. What began at home now continues through wedding ceremonies, support for other animals, and the Beyond Pet Friendly community. It gives the bond between people and animals a visible place, while recognizing the people who care for them.

Pawfect Witness™ began with the animals who shaped our lives and the people who gave them a place to belong.
Through pet-inclusive wedding ceremonies, charitable giving, and a community of wedding professionals who consider animals in their work, we hope to create more opportunities for animals to be included, cared for, and remembered.
We believe that caring for animals also means recognizing the people who love them, advocate for them, and make room for them in life's important moments.
